Skatevideos
Skateboard videos are probably the most important part of Skateboard media.
Don't get me wrong, having pictures to look at is great and all, but nothing beats seeing the real thing done well!
You can see all the skaters movements, see their style and you are able to rewind and slomo down the tricks to try and learn them yourself. |
Skatevideos used to be like small scale movie productions. It started out with Powell Peraltas " Video-Show", Animal Chin","Ban This", "Public Domain".
Those were followed up by Santa Cruz with "Wheels of Fire" and "Streets on Fire".
H-Streets "Hocus Pocus" paved the way for many smaller companies to start doing their own videos.
Plan B's "Questionable" proved to be nothing short of revolutionary. Later on, skateboard magazines like Thrasher, Big Brother and Transworld started making videos.
Noteables are mostly the highlevel productions of Transworld, like:"Feedback, "Modus operandi", "Sight Unseen" etc.
A fact most younger Skaters don't know is that Skatevideos used to be sold in Skateshops.

Nowadays, most Companies give their Videos away for free, a fact we should be thankful for!
One of the more recent Videos to hit the shelves is Lakai's "Fully Flared".
This is one of the Videos everyone should have at home in it's original intendet form.
Same thing goes for Fallen's "Rise with the Fallen", "Static III", all of the Flip Videos and as mentionend before all of the Transworld Videos. |
